If you or a loved one has been told—maybe even more than once—that amputation is the only path forward, we urge you to seek a second opinion at The Vascular Institute.
Our team is renowned for preserving limbs when others say it’s not possible. In fact, the Vascular Institute has the lowest amputation rate in the region, a distinction that reflects our commitment to exhausting every alternative before considering amputation.
We specialize in helping complex cases—patients who have been told multiple times that there’s nothing left to be done. But there often is something left to be done. With advanced diagnostic tools, cutting-edge minimally invasive procedures, and a relentless focus on circulation restoration, we may be able to offer new options and renewed hope.
Before you make a life-altering decision, come see the experts who are setting a new standard in limb preservation. A second opinion could mean a second chance.
A 71-year-old patient came to the Vascular Institute seeking a fourth opinion, determined to avoid a major amputation. They presented with a non-healing foot ulcer and a heavily calcified superficial femoral artery (SFA) occlusion. Previous surgeons and interventionalists had deemed him a poor candidate for both bypass surgery and endovascular intervention. Our team was able to restore normal blood flow to the heel. The improvement was incredible and his heel was able to completely heal.
This case is a powerful reminder: amputation is not the only option. Sometimes, all it takes is the right team with the right tools.
